2 Suit Spider Solitaire is considered the medium difficulty version of Spider Solitaire. It’s much easier to win than 4 Suit, where people win less than 5% of the games. It’s also much more challenging than 1 Suit, where you don’t have the added difficulty of playing with multiple suits. If you’re only just starting out playing Spider Solitaire, then you might find 2 Suit quite testing. If that’s the case, starting with 1 Suit can really help you understand the game!

2 Suit Opening Cards

The goal for 2 Suit is the same as for any other game of Spider Solitaire – building sets of 13 cards from the same suit in ascending order so that they’re added to your Foundation. Once you successfully build 8 columns of cards, you win the game.

The extra suit makes a big difference

Having two suits makes this version of Spider Solitaire much more challenging than 1 Suit. The reason for this is that there are more rules once you add more suits to the game. For instance, you can build descending columns in any suit on your Tableaus, but you can only move columns of cards from the same type. Columns only count as completed if all the cards are from the same suit.

2 Suit How you can move descending columns

These restrictions make it much harder to clear the board, and you end up drawing from the Stock more often, meaning your board fills up even quicker than usual.

2 Suit how to complete columns

Even though you might end up losing more games while playing 2 Suit, you shouldn’t get discouraged. Only about 20% of 2 Suit games are won, so it’s normal to have to restart games more often.

A good strategy suggestion is that it’s usually more important to make moves to reveal face-down cards, even if that means building mixed suit columns.
