FREE TO PLAY PAC-RAT, April 2024.
Pac-Rat is a modern game inspired by the classic Pac-Man. The game features multiple levels with different layouts, the familiar Pac-Man power-ups, and unique graphics that give the game a personalized look.
The game has you play as a rat instead of Pac-Man, and the ghosts are replaced by cats. The graphics are much smoother than the classic NES game, making it look modern.
The controls are also quite simple, as all you need are the arrow keys to change the direction in which you’re moving. To beat the game, you need to complete all the levels.
Maneuvering Through the Levels
Pac-Rat features six levels that you need to beat to finish the game. Each level has a unique design layout, so you will need to adapt your strategy quickly. Your goal is to eat all the small pieces of cheese while avoiding the cats that are following you. There are three cats, with each one having different movement patterns.
With each level having a different layout, there are different ways in which you can maneuver. The later levels have special tunnels that allow you to move from one side of the map to the other. The downside of these tunnels is that you need to watch out for cats waiting for you on the other side.
Using the Mechanics to Your Advantage
You have only three lives in Pac-Rat, and these lives are shared between the levels. You can play the game in an arcade style where you beat the levels back-to-back, or you can choose to start from a specific level with all three lives. If you lose all your lives, you lose the game.
The game features the classic Pac-Man power-up in the form of a big wheel of cheese. There are four big wheels in every level. Whenever you eat the wheel, you temporarily transform into a mutant mouse. While mutated, you can eat the cats, thus removing them from the game for a few seconds.
Although Pac-Rat has modern graphics, the game plays like the classic Pac-Man games. If you want to learn how to be a pro at Pac-Man, check out our main game page for it, where you can find all the tips and tricks the pros use.
